The Mission:

The Hennepin County Sheriff Foundation is committed to serving the community, preventing crime, and supporting the Sheriff’s office through community partnerships and public and private resources beyond the county budget.

The Foundation will bring together a collaborative effort between the public and private sectors to support county-wide law enforcement programs and activities, and the people who serve the public to enhance the effectiveness of the largest Sheriff’s office in Minnesota.

Who We Are:

The Hennepin County Sheriff Foundation is an independent, non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to strengthening public safety through youth based activity programs, prevention, intervention, education, outreach and 21st century crime fighting tools and programs.

The Foundation provides grants to the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office to fund new or existing programs with the goal of facilitating innovative solutions to the increasingly complex and underfunded problems confronted by law enforcement.

George Soule

George Soule - Board Chair

Mr. Soule has been a trial lawyer since 1979. He has tried over fifty cases to verdict in 17 states. His practice also includes safety and liability management for clients.

Mr. Soule is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and an Associate in the American Board of Trial Advocates.

From 1999-2003 under Governor Jesse Ventura, Mr. Soule served as Chair of the Minnesota Commission on Judicial Selection, which recruits, screens and recommends candidates for appointment by the Governor to judicial vacancies.

Mr. Soule served as President of the Minnesota American Indian Bar Association (2004-2006), Co-chair of the Minnesota State Bar Association Judicial Elections Task Force (1997), and Chair of the MSBA Civil Litigation Section (1994-1995).

Anthony Spector

Anthony Spector - Secretary

Mr. Spector is an attorney in private practice based in Minnesota. Mr. Spector began his law practice in 2003, Spector Law which is based Minneapolis, Minnesota. Prior to his career in the courtroom, Mr. Spector served the City of Minneapolis as a Park Police Officer for 13 years. While working for the Minneapolis Park Police, he completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Minnesota, then went onto the University of St. Thomas for his graduate studies, and earned his J.D. at William and Mitchell Law School. He volunteers at the Animal Humane Society and is a part-time Deputy Sheriff in Meeker County.

Gregory Ovik

Gregory Ovik - Treasurer

Mr. Ovik is a Certified Public Accountant and partner with Hubmer, Enstad, Ovik & Co., a CPA firm based in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area Mr. Ovik has twenty-five (25) years experience auditing and accounting in the non-profit area, primarily charitable organizations.
