According to the 2018 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 9.9 million Americans have misused prescription drugs. Perhaps even more troubling is the fact that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from their medicine cabinets.
October 26th, 2024 is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting events in the Twin Cities metro area where members of the public can drop off unwanted and unused medications for free. By cleaning out your medicine cabinets you are preventing the potential abuse of prescription drugs!
Join us on Saturday, October 26th, 2024 from 10am – 2pm at 3 convenient Walgreens locations:
- 7200 Cedar Lake Road S., St. Louis Park
- 12 W. 66th Street, Richfield
- 4100 W. Broadway Ave., Robbinsdale
All sites will be located in a store parking lot and staffed by sheriff’s deputies who will collect unwanted medications – no need for residents to get out of their vehicles. Deputies will also hand out free medication disposal pouches for residents who may have additional medications at home that they wish to dispose of properly.
